Nations greatness is measured by its great literal works. Our poet we provide here is a great Arab poet, Zuhayr bin Abi Sulma, one of the great poets in pre-Islamic era. As a respected wise man he contributed in making peace between Abs and Thibyan tribes early in Arab history. His Mu'allaqa (Long Poem) is full of wise talk and samples of compromising conflicts between Arab tribes. We provide this historical book in poetry here in as a part of Ihya' al Turath al Arabi fil Mahjar Project-USA, through the Arab American Encyclopedia originated and financially supported by the author for the purpose of enhancing knowledge among first, second and third Arab and Muslim generations in Diaspora to feel proud of their culture. Dr. Hasan Yahya is an Arab American scholar, scientist and philosopher. He resides in Lansing, Michigan, and has four children and ten grandchildren.
