The Analytical Reading Inventory (ARI) is an informal assessment tool designed to determine a student's reading level and to establish an instructional plan for improvement. It is comprised of a series of literature and informational text reading passages of increasing difficulty, from Preprimer through Level Nine, and can be used with all readers from the very young to high school students. As the student reads a leveled passage, the examiner records quantitative and qualitative Common Core State Standards data on easy-to-use Examiner's Passage Record Sheets.
