Susan Southard is the founder and artistic director of Essential Theatre, now in its twenty-fifth season presenting interactive, improvisational performances for marginalized communities across Arizona. She holds an MFA in narrative journalism from Antioch University/Los Angeles and was a nonfiction fellow at the Norman Mailer Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts. She lives in Tempe, Arizona.
