How do you know if you have started to live your last year of life?

Anna Katz has just turned 64, the age at which her father, her grandmother and her aunt died. So just in case, she celebrates big and starts keeping a list of all the things she wants to do but never could.

Her plans, nevertheless, stumble over setbacks. Her daughter Sofia, a 32-year-old journalist who is successful at work but unfortunate in love, surprises her with an unplanned pregnancy while her cousin Beatriz decides to follow her path to death. At 73, she has survived the fateful familial unlucky number but is tormented by imaginary maladies and a guilt others don't think that she deserves.

Anna and Leonardo, her husband, face another shocking piece of news: Anna has discovered a lump in her breast and tests confirm the most feared diagnosis.

The ghosts of September 11, the shared drama of a cancer battle and the unswerving solidarity of a family in good times and bad intertwine in this New York story of affection and estrangement, abandonments and joyous reunions that remind us to keep on living.
