A three-part drama. In the first scene we meet Joey, a prisoner. He receives an unexpected visit from the warden, who tells him the governor has granted him clemency. The scene ends with him dazed in joyous disbelief. In the next scene, a janitor drops by. He can't understand why Joey is still in his cell playing cards. Joey is actually more comfortable staying there-it's what he's used to. In the third scene, Joey's sister has arrived to take him home. Although it doesn't make sense, Joey's not sure he can leave.
