Author: Gill, Steven
Dr. Steven Gill is an Assistant Professor of accounting and taxation in the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy at San Diego State University. He received a BS in Accounting from the University of Florida a MS in Taxation from Northeastern University and a Ph.D., Accounting from the University of Massachusetts. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Gill worked almost 12 years in the field of accounting, serving in key roles in public accounting, internal audit, corporate accounting and ultimately, vice president of finance. Although currently in inactive status, Dr. Gill held a Certified Public Accountant designation. His research interests include a concentration in taxation including mutual funds and college savings ("529") plans and wider interests in corporate internal control structure and weaknesses, management overconfidence and earnings quality. Dr. Gill has published a wide variety of articles in various academic and practitioner journals. He has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels with a focus on teaching taxation and financial accounting.
