Indigenous and innovative, the Little Library Reading Kit introduces literacy to children aged 5 to 9 years. The boxed set contains sixty full-colour story books, (multiple copies of ten titles), teaching posters, audio-tapes, song sheets and translations into eight South African languages. Durable and portable, the colourful box serves as a teaching resource in its own right, which opens up to form a puppet theatre and poster stand. The stories encourage a creative response to language teaching and learning. The Little Library is the recipient of the 1996 internationally-acclaimed Ibby-Asahi Award for the Promotion of Reading.
