Description
War with Troy: The Story of Achilles is a new 3 CD audio retelling of the Trojan War, specially created for children and particularly aimed at developing children's speaking, listening and literacy skills. While trialled in primary schools in Norfolk and East London in the UK, it was enthusiastically received by a wide range of children. For ease of use, the story content is divided into 12 episodes, each lasting about 15 minutes and every episode is broken down into further sub-sections. Starting with the competition for the Golden Apple, the story traces the ups and downs of the last year of the war, and ends with the Wooden Horse and Fall of Troy. For the classroom, an accompanying Teacher's Guide is available. This includes photocopiable illustrations based on original Greek vases, a full transcript of the story, and teaching suggestions for each individual episode. Further support materials are also freely available on the Cambridge School Classics Project website.
