Wayne Kao joined Microsoft in January 2003, working as a developer on the PowerPoint team until mid-2006. He created PowerPoint 2007 features such as the pretty new effects and the new XML file formats; improved the undo, setup, placeholder, and Photo Album features; and worked with others to integrate SmartArt, chart, table, and picture improvements into PowerPoint. Wayne also worked on organizational chart improvements in PowerPoint 2003 and on Office Picture Manager 2003.
Wayne was a complete PowerPoint newbie before starting at Microsoft, having used PowerPoint all of two times. After being exposed to the product and to PowerPoint veterans nonstop for three or so years, he was surprised by the power of PowerPoint, which led to his coauthoring this book.
