Description
In this volume compiler Karen Livsey has extracted all useful genealogical data from the Land Tables of the Holland Land Company. Working from microfilm copies of the original records now in the custody of the Municipal Archives of Amsterdam, Holland, Mrs. Livsey--for each of the 70,000 transactions that took place between 1825 and 1835--supplies the name of the purchaser, the date of the transaction, the location of the land, the type of transaction (original article, subsequent receipt, or renewed contract), and a reference to the original source and the microfilm. Many of the settlers listed in the Land Tables ultimately moved away without ever recording a deed. Thus, this work not only identifies 70,000 pioneers of western New York, it also identifies thousands of people whose names were never recorded in official county land records. And with a date and a location, researchers can also examine other Company records on microfilm, such as correspondence and financial records.
