Description
Alice in Wonderland made simple for kids Adopted from the original by Lewis Carroll with all of the Original Drawings by John Tenniel Alice in Wonderland was originally a story told to three little girls aged 8 to 13 during a boat ride in 1865. One of the little girls was named Alice. She asked the story-teller to write it down and later on he did. Eventually, it was published and immediately it became a great sensation. However, the story is complex and difficult to follow. Few children can read and understand it, especially since it is filled with puzzles, riddles and logical problems. Most of the time, Mothers read it to their daughters. Adults read and study it as well. There are even political aspects to the story, as some of the characters were drawn to resemble British officials in power at the time. For example, "Bill the Lizard" is suspected of being a caricature of the British Prime Minister in office at the time. The author here has a six-year-old daughter who likes to look at the pictures of Alice and her friends but can read few of the words. Therefore, the original work has been rewritten in short simple words and sentences that a child aged 6 to 10 should be able to read. At the same time, the story line of the original has been followed faithfully. All of the original characters are still here. All of the 42 drawings in the original work are used. The length has been greatly reduced mostly by reducing the lengthy dialogues. Yet, the flavor of the conversations has been preserved. It is hoped that even adults will find this book useful, as the original work is a difficult read requiring many hours of study and concentration. Here, an adult can read this in a few minutes and turn to the original for the parts that seem most interesting. Large print size for easy reading
