Antonio de Nebrija (Lebrija, 1441-1522). Espa a. Naci en Lebrija, provincia de Sevilla, en 1441 o 1444 y estudi en la Universidad de Salamanca. A los diecinueve a os march a Italia, donde vivi diez a os. All fue becario del colegio espa ol de San Clemente, en la Universidad de Bolonia. M s tarde estuvo al servicio del arzobispo de Sevilla hasta la muerte de ste, prepar ndose para el magisterio que despu s ejerci en Espa a. Pretendi reformar la ense anza del lat n para devolverle su pureza primitiva. Pues la falta de rigor hab a provocado que el lat n tuviese un alto grado corrupci n. Para ello inici su intentona en Salamanca, cuya universidad ten a mucho prestigio en Europa. En 1475 empez a dar clases all , seis meses despu s gan la C tedra de Prima de Gram tica. Hizo, adem s, traducciones por encargo de la reina Isabel la Cat lica y perteneci al equipo que el cardenal Cisneros reuni para trabajar en la Biblia pol glota. Muri en la ciudad de Alcal de Henares el 2 de julio de 1522.
