Description
""Conjugal Lewdness Or Matrimonial Whoredom: A Treatise Concerning The Use And Abuse Of The Marriage Bed"" is a book written by Daniel Defoe, an English writer, journalist, and pamphleteer. The book is a treatise that delves into the topic of sexual relations within the confines of marriage. Defoe explores the concept of conjugal lewdness, which he defines as the misuse and abuse of the marriage bed. He discusses various aspects of sexual behavior, including the importance of mutual consent, the role of pleasure in sexual relations, and the dangers of excess and infidelity. The book was originally published in 1727 and was considered controversial at the time due to its frank discussions of sexual behavior. Defoe's work was influenced by the Puritan belief that sex within marriage was a holy act and should be approached with reverence and respect. However, he also acknowledges the reality that sexual desire can lead to sinful behavior if not kept in check.Overall, ""Conjugal Lewdness Or Matrimonial Whoredom"" is a thought-provoking and insightful treatise on the topic of marital sex. Defoe's writing is clear and concise, and his arguments are well-supported by both scripture and reason. The book remains relevant today as a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of sexuality and the role of sex within marriage.""Showing I.
