Charlotte Eliopoulos, MPH, PhD, RN, is a well-known and highly respected nurse leader in long-term care and gerontology. She is currently Executive Director, American Association for Long-Term Care Nursing (AALTCN), and also works in private practice where she serves as a consultant on education, writing, and speaking about long- term care, geriatric nursing, integrative and holistic care of chronic conditions, culture change, staff development in long-term care, writing for publication, and self-care for nursing staff. Previous positions include Executive Director, The Wellspring Program for Culture Change; Interim Executive Director, National Association Directors of Nursing Administration Long-Term Care; President, American Holistic Nurses Association; Director of Education, Health Education Network; Director of Nursing and Vice President for Clinical Services, Levindale Geriatric Center and Hospital, Baltimore, MD; Associate Faculty, Department of Health Policy and Management, Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, Baltimore, MD; Consultant, Geriatric Care Services, Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene; and Clinical Specialist in Gerontological Nursing, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD.

Dr. Eliopoulos also is a prolific and acclaimed author, having been the Editor, Board Member, or Column Writer for fourteen journals. She is currently Editor for Nursing Assistant Educator and Annals of Long-Term Care. In addition, Dr. Eliopoulos has authored 20 books on the topics of gerontology, long-term care, administration, culture change, holistic nursing, and complementary and alternative therapies, among others.
