Born in Strasbourg, France, in 1937, Jacques Kornprobst graduated from the University of Paris-Sorbonne and was a lecturer there until 1972. He has taught geology topics at several universities, including Paris University and Clermont-Ferrand University. Currently he is chairman of the scientific committee at Vulcania, a volcanological park near Clermont-Ferrand, France.
