Amber nurtured her love of quilting over the next few years and spent many hours dreaming of opening a quilt shop. But then she had a baby and realized that life wasn't just about her and her husband. She knew she didn't want to spend long days running a store. She wondered what she could do that would let her be a stay-at-home mom and express her creative side at the same time. Pattern designing seemed to be the perfect fit.
Gigi's Thimble, her pattern-design company, was born in the latter part of 2009. It's named after Amber's grandmother, whom Amber's children call "Gigi." When Amber first started quilting, her grandmother gave her a thimble. To this day, with every push of the needle, the thimble reminds Amber of their precious quiltmaking lessons. Amber also has a quilting blog called A Little Bit Biased, where she shares her love of color, design, and fabric with the online community. She lives in Alpine, Utah, and works part-time at a fabric store, where she loves teaching classes and drooling over new shipments of fabric. But for her, the best part is helping people pick out fabrics, figure out measurements, and find inspiration. She loves seeing what others are working on and helping to spread the joy of quilting to those just getting started.
