When Nicolas has to miss training camp because of a very badly timed flu, his despair is followed by the determination to find a new sport. While his hockey mates are learning new skills, Nicolas rounds up his other friends to show him the sports they love. He tries tennis, gymnastics, yoga, running, swimming and weight lifting. His friends teach him lots of great skills, but with each new sport he realizes he really does love hockey best.

On the day of hockey tryouts, Nicolas' new skills help elevate his level of play. Not only does he make the team, he gets the position of starting goalie In the end, he learns that trying something new and getting help from friends can go a long way.
