Description
Laimingas Emigrantas is the Lithuanian language version of One Grateful Immigrant, the story of one man's journey from a childhood in rural Lithuania to a successful life as a business executive, husband and father in his new-found home: The United States of America. Born as the storm clouds of World War II were forming on the horizon, follow Leon through an idyllic childhood and the shattering of youthful dreams at the outbreak of the war. Joining the retreating German army to escape the feared Soviet army, Leon eventually found himself a prisoner of war in a British P.O.W. camp, and at the war's end a displaced person in Germany. Separated from his family and beloved homeland, Leon immigrated to the United States in the late 1940s, facing the challenges of a new culture balanced by the benefits of new opportunities. Through hard work he established himself as an entrepreneur, engineer and executive on the cutting edge of the then infant computer technology industry. Follow Leon through the twists and turns of a career with well-known corporations and his own business start-ups, and through the joys and sorrows of family life in his adopted homeland, and the extended family he left behind in the land of his birth.
