Watters, David
David E. Watters (1944 2009), with his wife, Nancy, and sons, Steve and Daniel, spent much of his life in the remote Himalayas, working with the Kham Magars of Nepal. A lifelong student, David received his Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in 1998, where he later taught as adjunct faculty. He also taught at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan University, directed SIL International's Oregon school for four years, and served as Associate Editor of Himalayan Linguistics. An expert in Tibeto-Burman linguistics, David published many works, including A Grammar of Kham (2002), A Dictionary of Kham (2004), and Notes on Kusunda Grammar (2006).
