What are the history and technical aspects of memorization of the Quran? Who are the hafizes? What kind of experience is memorization? What are the memories of hafizes about themselves? How do their families, friends, communities, and society generally view them? How is gender reflected in the work they do? How do the genders see each other in terms of their memorization abilities and experiences? This book pursues the answers given to such questions and, through these answers, tries to understand what hafiz and hafizes correspond to as a subculture.
