I got the idea of writing this and all the other "Alex's Bilingual Children's Book Series" because I could not find that many bilingual children's books in the area where we live. Many times I found myself reading a book in English to my son and then translating it into Spanish so he would practice both languages. Other times, I found myself reading a book in Spanish and translating it into English so my son would understand. I also found that it was hard to find a bilingual book with a good message at the end of the story. This book not only allows kids to learn Spanish and/or English, but hopefully will inspire parents to teach their kids about how much fun learning about geography can be. Dinner time at Alex's home is always really fun Alex's parents try to teach Alex a little bit about geography as they eat different foods from other states in the United States & from around the world. Alex is not only learning where some states & countries are, but he is also learning to appreciate exotic foods (or not ) & the different cultures of people around the world. By Alex's parents teaching Alex to enjoy learning about other cultures, they hope to teach Alex a lifelong lesson about accepting other people's differences & cultures. At the end of the story, Alex certainly understands that it is OK to be different and it is fun learning about geography In this book, Alex's imagination takes him to far away places. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do when I read it to my son. Please point to each word in this book as you read to your child so he/she can start recognizing the sounds that each word makes in each language. This book is perfect for children ages 3-8.
