Author: Carthew, Mark
Mark Carthew is Australian children's author, poet and educator well known for his award winning books and series exploring wordplay, music, movement, drama and humour.
Mark's exciting recent releases the wonderfully wacky rhyme and riddle books Witches' Britches, Itches & Twitches!, Wicked Wizards & Leaping Lizards and Newts, Lutes and Bandicoots, all produced in collaboration with UK illustrator Mike Spoor. Mark's picture books include Five Little Owls illustrated Mini Goss and The Gobbling Tree, illustrated by Susy Boyer, winner of Speech Pathology Australia's Book of the Year 2009. His anthology Can You Keep a Secret? Timeless rhymes to share and treasure illustrated by Jobi Murphy was a Children's Book Council of Australia Notable Book, Early Childhood.
In 2011 Mark was conferred his PhD in Writing from Swinburne University, Australia. He is a 2013 May Gibbs Children's Literature Trust CTR Fellow and Director/Board Member of the Australian Society of Authors.
His latest book The Moose is Loose! illustrated by Matt Stanton is published by HarperCollinsPublishers and ABC Books.
