This guide is to be used to obtain general information regarding policies and procedures for burial and related activities at Arlington National Cemetery. Veterans and their dependents or personal representatives can use this to assist in eligibility determination for interment (ground burial of either casketed or inurned remains) and for Columbarium/Wall inurnment (cremated remains) and to better understand the burial process at Arlington National Cemetery. The guide also contains information essential to process a future request for interment or inurnment, submit questions, issues or concerns regarding gravesites and other important information regarding cemetery procedures and regulations. Arlington National Cemetery is a national cemetery administered by the Department of the Army. The primary mission of Arlington National Cemetery is to serve as the final resting place for the men and women who honorably served in the Armed Forces and their immediate family members. The cemetery routinely performs 20 to 30 funeral services each day.
