Description
"Between Two Doors" is a humorous portrayal of tragic events that shape a young life into adulthood. Many lives are lived within this one. The story begins at "o-dark" hundred. The Mustang convertible carrying five passengers points north to a new home leaving Cleveland, Ohio and generations of family and friends all piled atop one another in their graves so all may stay together through eternity. This family leaves a place where everyone chose to stay familiar and where no one escapes reality. How easily a stable existence can be dismantled after moving to a town where strangeness is the norm. The story sets the stage for a chance meeting with a most unusual character. Haddi Grimace is fully eccentric, bewildering, infinitely intriguing, yet verges on the diabolical. A child's friendship and destiny begins with this chance meeting and sets the precedent for future events. In the end the reader will identify with several life struggles and yet begin to understand the humor that is born from such uncanny events. But mostly the stories reflects an extraordinary spirit which at times was the character's only ally. The character triumphs through tragedy into adulthood turning the average day into a ridiculously funny tales, all the while trying to make sense of it all.
