Xenophon of Ephesus's "pulp-fiction" novel, "An Ephesian Tale", is an excellent text for students who have completed the first year of college-level Ancient Greek or its equivalent. Its length is quite short, its syntax is straightforward, and its narrative - an adventure romance between two young ill-starred lovers (Habrocomes and Anthia) - is one of the most action-packed and enjoyable in all of Ancient Greek literature.
