'Lagaama Roona' is the second book published by Saida Sheikh Ahmed and it discusses the rights of Somali members of the LGBTQ+ community. Sheikh Ahmed is not the first writer to write on this topic however; she is the first to address it in the Somali language. 'Lagaama Roona' is based on a thorough research that is looking at the rights of LGBTQ+ Somalis from cultural as well as religious perspectives. Sheikh Ahmed uses storytelling and humorous anecdotes to center the voices of LGBTQ+ Somalis and engage the reader into thinking about a subject that has long remained a taboo in the Somali community. Through this book, Sheikh Ahmed intends to raise awareness about the rights of Somali LGBTQ+ people and break the barrier of fear and silence imposed of this marginalized and excluded group of people. Sheikh Ahmed's main objective behind this work is to initiate an honest and compassionate dialogue among Somali people in relations to this topic.
