Anita C. Prieto has worked for more than thirty years in Louisiana as a principal, acting superintendent, and teacher. She earned a bachelor of arts degree and master's degree in education from Louisiana State University and completed a doctoral program from the University of New Orleans. Prieto is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She lives in Metairie, Louisiana.

Virginia Howard has worked since the 1970s at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in various roles, including associate editor, graphic designer, and Web designer.
