Author: Buckley, Annie
Annie Buckley is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and professor based in Los Angeles. Annie's art and writing are informed by her longtime practices of meditation and yoga and an exploration of the intersections between ancient Indian and contemporary postmodern philosophies, specifically the meaning and dimensions of consciousness. She is most interested in what we don't know - and how we as humans seek to understand and depict the ineffable experience of being. Annie is the author of more than twenty books as well as over a hundred reviews and articles published by Artforum, The Huffington Post, Art in America, Artillery, and several other publications. Her photographic collages, mixed media, and text-based works have been included in solo exhibitions at Carl Berg Gallery and Jancar Gallery and were the subject of a large exhibition at Los Angeles International Airport, ""Human Nature,"" sponsored by the L.A. Department of Cultural Affairs. Annie is an Assistant Professor of Visual Studies at California State University, San Bernardino, where she teaches courses in Community-based Arts, Contemporary Art History and Theory, and Art and Human Development. Annie received a BA with academic honors from UC Berkeley in 1990 and an MFA from Otis College of Art and Design in 2003.
