Author: Robins, Maureen
Maureen Picard Robins is currently a middle school assistant principal and is a national presenter on education topics. She has presented for the National Staff Development Council on brain-based pedagogies to maximize student achievement and on the use of data for the purposes of school improvement. She also presented for the CEL branch of the National Council of the Teachers of English. Robins has also presented to mentors and been involved with mentor training programs. She has presented to her city-wide English Assistant Principals and staff developers and is a frequently requested speaker.

Robins has written essays about education and family for national outlets such as the Sunday New York Daily News, MSNBC, and Family Circle, as well as book reviews for "The New York Times". She also has co-authored a book with Dr. Sidney Trubowitz, "The Good Teacher Mentor", published by Teachers College Press in 2003 (of more than 5,000 copies sold, most were sold directly to teachers). The book is a memoir in two voices about a teacher's first year and her mentor's advice. Reviewers claimed the book "reads like fiction" and is destined to become a "classic of its kind."

Prior to becoming an assistant principal, Robins was a literacy staff developer with particular expertise in the teaching of writing.

Robins has a Masters of Educational Administration and a Masters in English.
