Description
Parallel Divergence is a new take on the story of a love affair gone horribly wrong. The narrator is one of the many women who find themselves embroiled in a romantic situation that they never saw coming. The unnamed woman discovers that she could, indeed, be any woman in any place. The middle aged woman who narrates has grown complacent with her life. She becomes increasingly discontent as she realizes that her children are growing older and she hasn't quite moved in the direction that she always wanted. She pursues a long time interest in photography. Her teacher is dark and mysterious and seems to be exactly what she needs to add a spark into her dull life. Their affair advances from a one-time fling into a full blown affair, causing the town gossips to reveal her secret to her husband. Her terrified husband accommodates her in her struggle for happiness. Then an anonymous girl approaches her with information about her lover's past. All things come to a resolution with a surprising twist at the end. Short Story Press publishes short stories written by everyday writers.
