However, the purpose of troubleshooting is to reduce the need for troubleshooting as you increase your skills. The imaging problems listed in this manual are the result of certain uncontrolled variables in equipment, materials, or processing. Included is a Problem Cross-Reference Chart with 41 variables and the causes of the problems in order of likeliness. Also, included is a reproducable Troubleshooting Record Form that you can use to create your own reference. Provided are illustrations of the most common image-edge and image-area faults for a visual reference. In Section 5, both simple and complex problems are described and solutions recommended for their elimination. More important than the solutions themselves, however, are the procedures and steps provided in this guide to help you solve these problems.
