Captured in the Highland Central Vietnam, the young soldier of the Communist North Vietnamese Army was taken to Saigon, South Vietnam, for interrogation. What he told the interrogator took the man on a journey back in time to a village in the North where he met a young woman and fell in love with her. He abandoned his plan to join hundred thousand refugees leaving for the South under Operation Passage to Freedom launched after the 1954 Geneva Accord divided the country in two. The ensuing events shook the man to his core and changed his life forever.
