Description

Jake and Emily are time travelers who visit historical figures needing encouragement. These are people from the past that affect our daily lives in the present. This trip, they drop into The American Revolution. They met a 16 year old girl named Sybil Ludington. Miss Sybil has been dubbed the "female Paul Revere." In reality, she rode further than Revere. The Americans received word that the British intended to burn the nearby town of Danbury. The Colonel had no one to send to alert the militia at their farms. Miss Sybil, the colonel's daughter, volunteered saying, "I can ride as well as any man. And my horse, Star, knows the woods!" Jake and Emily met Miss Sybil about half way through her journey. She did not know if she could make it in the dark and cold, driving rain.. The kids assured her she could make it if she didn't give up. Her forty mile ride was going to be part of history. With that, she had a fresh burst of energy and continued her ride to gather the militia.
