The primary areas of his teaching and research are: relationships between new media technologies and culture; analysis of media and culture in South Asia; research methodology; critical studies; and recreation and leisure research. He has also served as a consultant to private industries, universities, colleges, and local government agencies across the world. His published works include "Television and Popular Culture in India "(1993), "India through the Western Lens "(1999), "Research Methods in Park, Recreation and Leisure Services "(2000) and the "Digital Life "(2010) series that includes six books on various aspects of the contemporary digital world and numerous scholarly articles in various reputed academic journals.
