Hersh Grinberg, had enough of being a lawyer. He leaves his wife and daughter and moves in with his aging parents in Jerusalem in hopes of becoming a "real" writer. He meets his charlatan friend, Shloymele, and gets involved in stealing jewelry from a senile old lady. His spiritual journey takes him further to the bed of a writing guru, a chaotic Gemara class, the apartment of a Yiddish poet and finally to a closed ward of a mental institution. After getting out from the institute, he returns to the insatiable Yiddish poet, and then the 7.10 disaster takes place.
