Poet Wislawa Szymborska (1923-2012) is one of the most prominent figures in Polish literature and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1996. The author of the translations, Elena Katishonok - herself a poet, novelist, and translator -received the Hemingway Prize (Canada) in 2023 for her translations of Szymborska's poetry. The publication of the book 100 + 1 Poems was timed to coincide with the 101st anniversary of the poet's birth.
