VOXEL-MAN Brain and Skull is a new kind of anatomical atlas, in that it allows free interactive exploration of a space-filling model of the human head. It may be viewed from any user-defined direction, and the interior may be added or removed by mouse-click on the objects or on their names in a list. VOXEL-MAN Brain and Skull can be interrogated concerning names or explanations about structure, cortical function, or blood supply. Latin, English, German, French or Japanese nomenclature may be chosen. In addition, the manifestation of anatomy in radiological imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI) can be viewed in the 3D context. The program is especially suited as an author tool for pictorial material such as images of dissections and surgical access paths.The user can create not only static high-resolution images with size and resolution of his own choice, but also movies (Quick Time). With the availability of LINUX, the program is no longer restricted to UNIX workstations, but can be run on a PC.
