Description
Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Informatik - Software, Note: Sehr gut, Fachhochschule Technikum Wien, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: IT-Budgets are shortened, hardware is short-dated and the software and operating system life cycles are shortened but in contrast availability of the complete it-infrastructure including internet access has more importance than ever. To get these antitheses under control, three keywords are of particular importance: Virtualization, High Availability and OpenSource. Virtualization helps on the one hand to save money and allows better utilization and more flexible use of hardware and on the other side it offers the opportunity to use old, no longer maintainable software on virtualized operating systems which are passed from one hardware generation to the next one. High availability guarantees the user that the systems, programs and services he is used to run with a system stability of 99.99 percent and gives the IT-responsible persons the opportunity to maintain the hardware and software in periodical cycles. With the help of OpenSource operating systems, such as Linux, and OpenSource software products for Virtualization, High Availability and data safety, running under Linux, it is possible to save a lot of money. There are millions of programmers all over the world who spend their time to improve and to enhance these products at no charge. With this bachelor thesis I want to discuss these three points theoretically and show you a practical use case with an concrete realization.
