Wind is one of the environment friendly sources of energy, which is by and large sufficient on islands. Nonetheless, many islands lack in adequate wind speeds to produce electricity. The state-of-the-art wind turbine technology claims to produce electric power at very low speeds. However, these turbines are not apposite to all circumstances due to some limitations. Further, day by day, the cost of clean and inexhaustible renewable energy is declining and that of contaminating and depleting fossil fuel is mounting.
