Description
There are great potentials of congestion pricing strategies in reducing traffic jams and improving system efficiency due to its ability to promote the efficient use of existing infrastructure. In a congestion pricing system, the design and implementation of the tolling signage is extremely essential in explaining tolling strategies to potential users. This book develops a procedure to evaluate candidate congestion pricing signs and provide design procedure with higher comprehensibility. The developed simulation test method consists of six operational steps, and the evaluation algorithm is answer-to-questionnaire based. By following the procedure, the superior scenario(s), with drivers' best understandings, can be selected in each candidate sign sequence group. The methodology developed in this book, although being originated for congestion pricing message signage and sign sequence design, can however be easily applied to other types of sign tests with more complicated vehicle operation schemes.
