Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) such as neck and low back pain have been widely reported as being of significant health and economic concern due to increased globalisation and industrial advancements. Posture, body fatigue, hours of computer usage and lack of ergonomic knowledge etc. are found to be causal factors determining work related MSD therefore it is important to have conscientisation about the changing world and the increased need for ergonomics interventions in today's work places. Software professionals continue to have lot of problems including RSI, obesity, poor fitness and stress. It is mandatory to provide multi-disciplinary intervention of corrective measures of office ergonomics, posture correction, and preventive exercise programmes could reduce the symptoms in these professionals. The most cost-effective way to prevent these disorders is to integrate prevention into industrial practices.
