Ostriches (Struthio camelus) reared in captivity are susceptible to health problems. Noninfectious diseases resulting from unskilled management due to the inexperience of most breeders are very common, involving environmental and nutritional stress. Nutritional deficiencies, which are most common problems with most commercial farming, are caused by incorrect feed formulation, mixture and storage. Such ype of deficiencies may lead to a high rate of deficient growth, bone deformities in the limbs and the loss of young birds.
