Total Bed Material Load Equation Development for Mountain Rivers

AUTHOR Sulaiman, Mohd Sofiyan; Sinnakaudan, Shanker Kumar
PUBLISHER LAP Lambert Academic Publishing (08/11/2011)
PRODUCT TYPE Paperback (Paperback)

Description
The applicability of the Total Bed Material Load equations (TBMLe) depends on its parameter, sampling techniques and its mathematical approaches. However, most of the existing TBMLe are developed based on databases obtained from laboratory scale simulations or field measurements at low to medium gradient rivers only and less studied for MR especially in the tropical areas. Thus, the work reported in this book is intended to give a step by step guide on how to develop a TBMLe for MR with study reaches having gravelled and cobble beds with diverse morphological characteristics. The steps adopted in the field data collection and analyses are explained with the aid of photographs. The derivations of new TBMLe by detailed statistical analyses are proved based on worked examples. It is evident that the usage of native field data for equation development further improves the predictive power of the TBMLe and the new equation can be applied for MR and reservoirs sedimentation calculations. This book is best utilised by water resources engineers who worked on the management of sediment transport in the Mountain Rivers
