The important turning points in foreign language teaching and learning methodology and research can be observed at different levels. In this volume, both explicit and implicit turning points are presented. The contributions focus on the changes in the methods of foreign language teaching, on some theoretical shifts, on the ways of promoting different foreign language competencies, as well as on the conceptualization of (productive) language skills and the ways of developing them. The collected contributions analyze the shifts in language education, that is in the content of foreign language teaching and in the ways of developing different language skills and competencies. The volume also discusses the evolutions in the role, functions, and training of language teachers.
