Kristian Kroschel studierte von 1962 bis 1967 an den UniversitAten Karlsruhe und Erlangen-NA1/4rnberg Elektrotechnik mit dem Schwerpunkt Nachrichtentechnik. An der UniversitAt Karlsruhe promovierte er 1971 mit dem Thema "Optimale Suchfilter" und habilitierte sich 1974 fA1/4r das Fach "Nachrichtentechnik." Seit 1977 ist er an der UniversitAt Karlsruhe Professor an der FakultAt fA1/4r Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik.

Von 1987 bis 1991 leitete er parallel dazu die Abteilung "Digitale Signalverarbeitung und Diagnose" am Fraunhofer Institut fA1/4r Informations- und Datenverarbeitung (IITB) in Karlsruhe. Heute arbeitet er dort als wissenschaftlicher Berater.

Auf den Feldern "Signalverarbeitung" und "NachrichtenA1/4bertragung" publizierte er A1/4ber 60 BeitrAge und schrieb 3 BA1/4cher, zum Teil zusammen mit anderen Autoren. Sein besonderes Interesse gilt der StAr- und Echoreduktion bei Spracherkennung und -A1/4bertragung.

Mehrmals nahm er im Rahmen von Forschungssemestern Positionen an anderen Hochschulen ein, so am Technion Haifa, Israel, der University of California at Santa Barbara, California, dem Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia usw.

Er ist Mitglied des VDE, des Verbandes der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik und Informationstechnik e.V.
