Vera Slavova said in the 1960s no one wanted to translate "Winnie the Pooh" because it was difficult, and she with great self-destruction and even fear took it on. She has done a wonderful translation of the book, because besides the good knowledge of the language, she was also a child's teacher and she knew the child's thinking and the words the children were imagining, just how funky and kind they are mistaken. This translation follows the original book closely. The purpose of this book is to help Bulgarian speakers learn English and to help English speakers learn Bulgarian. To have a translation as close as possible to the original is the most useful. Bulgarian is spoken by 9 million people in Bulgaria and neighboring Macedonia and Greece.
