The choice between peritoneal dialysis, haemodialysis and haemodiafiltration is made according to the child's condition, the available resources and local expertise. However, in Algeria, the cruel lack of haemodialysis equipment adapted to young children means that very often the nephro-paediatrician and the resuscitator do not have a real choice and peritoneal dialysis is the only life-saving method.
