In 1973, two silk manuscript versions of Laozi's Five Thousand Characters (Version A and B) were unearthed from the Mawangdui Han Tomb in Changsha, Hunan, causing a global sensation. As later transcripts often better preserve the original text, these silk manuscripts represent the most authentic form of Laozi.
