Collected in this book are two of the most important Swedish plays of the twentieth century. We are first presented with "A Dream Play," one of August Strindberg's greatest plays, which features a goddess visiting Earth to witness humanity, and ultimately pitying it. Secondly, we are presented with "The Night of the Tribades "by Per Olov Enquist, a portrayal of Strindberg featuring all of his complexes and weaknesses, in which a production of a Strindberg play turns into a deadly argument between the playwright and the actress Siri, who was still his wife at the time.
