This volume contains the proceedings of a conference on the protection and promotion of cultural heritage held in Florence on April 15-16, 2011, during the 13 th Cultural Week, in the Salone Magliabechiano of the Uffizi Library. The event was promoted by the Fondazione Spadolini Nuova Antologia in cooperation with the National Committee for the Celebration of the Centenary of the First Official Regulation on the Protection of Culture and with the Ministry of Culture. The conference was chaired by Roberto Cecchi, Maddalena Ragni, and Andrea Carandini.
